NOT GUILTY – ASSAULT 1ST DEGREE

Jury acquits young man of Assault in the 1st degree stemming from a New Year’s Eve stabbing. The case was vigorously prosecuted by a rural jurisdiction and was extremely one sided as the defendant was from out of town and the victim was a “local boy”. The defendant contended that the man he stabbed had been attacking him and in fact the defense contended that the Defendant was attacked by multiple people as he attempted to leave peacefully. Although he chose not to testify the jury was able to piece together the events of the night and concluded that the young man had in fact acted in self defense.
